The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will not kick-off next weekend as initially planned.
The top echelon of the Nigeria football league will now kick-off on 8 September. According to the General Secretary of the NPFL Clubs, Godwin Enakhena, the shift by two weeks is to enable perfection of the live streaming of most of the matches. His words: “This is to give Propel, the streaming platform enough time to concretise plans with a telecoms network for flawless streaming of NPFL games in the new season.”
It is further explained that the NPFL Live App needs time to be ready for next month. Test run of camera and training ongoing at various stadiums.
Enakhena however points out that the draw for the league will still hold on Thursday as initially planned. But the NPFL board’s Annual General Meeting is moved by a week.
