Prove the manager wrong’ – Lewis Hall breaks silence after huge England career boost

Lewis Hall reacts to England recall after Newcastle star puts World Cup disappointment behind him

Lewis Hall has admitted he is “buzzing” after earning a recall to the England squad for the upcoming international break.

The Newcastle United defender was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad during the summer, a decision that came as a major disappointment after what was widely regarded as an impressive season for the 22-year-old.

Hall has responded positively to that setback, beginning the new campaign strongly and establishing himself as an important player for Newcastle. Despite speculation during the summer that Manchester United could make a move for him, Newcastle remained firm that Hall was not for sale.

His impressive start to the season was followed by another major boost last week when he signed a new contract with the Magpies that will keep him at St James’ Park until 2031. Now, his return to the England setup has provided another reason to celebrate.

Hall delighted with England return

Speaking to Newcastle’s official website, Hall revealed how pleased he was to receive the news and explained how he used his World Cup disappointment as motivation.

“I’m obviously buzzing with it. I’m very proud to be back in the squad,” Hall said.

“It was disappointing what happened in the summer, but I’ve put that behind me. I’ve started the new season fresh and I think I’ve started fairly well.”

Hall, who currently has four senior England caps, admitted that missing out previously gave him extra motivation to improve and show what he could do.

“I’m just really happy to be back. I found out this morning with a text message from one of the FA player liaisons. I was really proud when that came through,” he added.

“It’s always a motivation when you miss out on something. There are two ways you can look at it. You can go into your shell, hide and not be yourself, or you can go for more and prove the manager wrong.

“I’ve tried to do that with my own individual performances.”

Hall commits his future to Newcastle

The England recall comes shortly after Hall committed his long-term future to Newcastle by signing a contract extension until 2031.

The defender described the new deal as a proud moment and highlighted his strong connection with the club and its supporters.

“I’m absolutely delighted. It’s a really proud moment. It’s an absolute pleasure to play for this club and represent the supporters,” Hall said.

“I know how much it means to them. The fanbase and the support we get here, whether it’s at St James’ Park or away, is the best in the league in my opinion.

“To be able to bring joy to their faces is a big thing for me.”

Hall also spoke about his family connection to Newcastle and explained how important it is for him to make his loved ones proud.

“I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all. One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United.

“It’s a really good place to be. It’s really pleasing with how we’ve started the season, especially with the new gaffer and coaching staff coming in, and I think we can go on to achieve really big things.”
