“The Best” newcastle fans will love this as matheos ferreira fires in sensational efl trophy goal

Matheos Ferreira once again showcased his quality for Newcastle United’s U21 side on Tuesday evening, producing a stunning goal against Bradford City in the EFL Trophy.

The young Magpies eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat at Valley Parade, despite taking the lead through Ferreira’s spectacular strike. The result came just a week after Newcastle’s youngsters secured an impressive 3-1 victory over York.

Ferreira produces another moment of brilliance

Ferreira opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with a superb long-range effort. The 18-year-old winger cut inside before curling the ball into the top-right corner, leaving the Bradford goalkeeper with no chance.

It was another eye-catching contribution from Ferreira, who continues to make an impression at youth level. He had also scored in Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat against Boreham Wood earlier this month.

The goal once again highlighted the teenager’s ability to produce moments of individual quality from distance.

Bradford complete second-half comeback

Newcastle U21s went into the interval with a deserved lead, but Bradford responded strongly after the break.

Nathaniel Powell restored parity in the 59th minute before the League One side completed the turnaround 12 minutes later, with Powell finding the net again to put Bradford 2-1 ahead.

Newcastle were unable to find an equaliser despite their efforts in the closing stages, meaning Ferreira’s excellent first-half strike ultimately counted for little.

The defeat leaves Robbie Stockdale’s side with more work to do in the EFL Trophy group, although the experience should provide another valuable test for Newcastle’s young players.
